AI Dev Tycoon
You are the CEO of a new and fast-growing AI company.
The system your organisation has built promises immediate, scalable AI solutions. Millions of people could benefit from what you are offering, and different stakeholders are interested in investing in your product. At the same time, the decisions you make will also affect your users, and determine how the institutions surrounding the model itself begin to change.
Your responsibility is to steer the company, deciding based on stakeholder advice and preferences:
- How quickly is the AI released?
- What safety standards are sufficient?
- How is user data handled?
Every decision you make not only affects technical capabilities and financial gains, but also reallocates power and value across industry, civil society, and governance interests. Your motivation is to build and implement your product successfully. Success, however, has no single definition, and advancing one of these goals often reshapes the others. This game asks you to confront the question of what successful AI might look like within the broader infrastructure.
GAME LOOP
Manage the AI company through a high-stakes balancing act.
1. Setup
At the start of every run, 4 Unique Stakeholders are chosen. Each represents a different value in the system. No two runs start the same.
2. Turn
1 Card = 1 Turn. You have a limited timeline. Each card presents a dilemma where you must choose a direction. Your choice will boost some stakeholders and hurt others.
3. Risk
Watch your values closely. If ANY single value drops to 0 or 10 before your turns run out, the company fails immediately. You lose.
4. Evaluation
Survive the deck to reach the end. Your specific ending is determined by the final state of your values. Did you build a utopia, or a surveillance state?
